Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi National (PTPTN)

PTPTN (Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional) was established on 1st July 1997 by the Malaysian government to provide financial assistance to students pursuing higher education. The main purpose of PTPTN is to offer affordable student loans to help students cover tuition fees and living expenses, making higher education more accessible to all Malaysians.

Terms & Conditions for Applying for PTPTN Loan

To be eligible for a PTPTN education loan, applicants must fulfil the following requirements:

1. General Eligibility

Malaysian citizen.

✅ Aged 45 years and below at the time of application.

✅Must have an active SSPN Prime (Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional) account and personal Maybank account.

✅Obtain the letter of offer from INTI College Sabah by fulfilling the entry eligibility requirements set by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

✅ Enrolled in a full-time diploma, degree, or equivalent program.

✅The course must be approved and accredited by MQA, JPA, or a relevant professional body.

2. Loan Application Requirements

Must apply within the application period set by PTPTN.

✅Students must not be receiving full sponsorship from any other organization (e.g., JPA, MARA,Biasiswa Yayasan Sabah).

✅Upload required documents, including offer letter, identification documents, and income verification (if applicable).

✅Pay stamp duty (RM20) and digital signature fee (RM5) during the agreement signing process.


Additional Notes

  • PTPTN loans do not cover short courses, foundation programs, or professional certifications.
  • Students who fail their studies or drop out may be required to repay the loan immediately.

Loan Disbursement

  • Loan payment will direct debit into College's account.
  • First loan payment is released only after the completed agreement received by PTPTN.
  • Subsequent payment only be made after PTPTN receives confirmation from college that the student successful in continuing studies and has obtained a GPA of below 2.0 or Average of 40%.


PTPTN Loan - Suspension of Loan

  • Must Maintain GPA 2.0 / AVG40%.
  • Result refers to LONG and SHORT semester.
  • Below average, loan will be suspended for the subsequent semester. In such an event, the student must pay the full tuition fee to continue with the course in the semester where the loan is suspended.
  • Students defer their semester.


Termination of Loan

  • Loan payment will be terminated when students fail to continue their studies or continue their studies overseas.
  • The student must complete the “Borang Pembatalan Perjanjian”, which is available on the PTPTN website.
  • Students are required to repay the amount obtained from PTPTN for the duration of their studies as specified in the loan agreement.
  • Appeals to defer payment or re-scheduling must be submitted to PTPTN if the students cannot repay the amount borrowed (between student & PTPTN).


Additional Notes

  1. Students who are progressing from Diploma to a Degree program are eligible to apply for the PTPTN loan for their degree studies. If their diploma studies were previously funded by PTPTN, they may apply for a new loan for their degree program.
  2. Degree students who achieve First Class Honours may have their PTPTN loan converted into a full scholarship.
    • To be eligible, students must complete their studies within the designated 3-year period, as any semester extensions will not qualify for the waiver or any additional financial support from PTPTN.
    • The application to convert the loan into a scholarship must be submitted within 12 months after the graduation ceremony. Students are required to apply for the waiver through the myPTPTN portal.
