Insurance Card
International students should collect their insurance card from IO. The renewal fee for international students is charged at RM248.50 at each renewal yearly.
Visa Renewal
International students need to submit their passport to International Office to renew their student pass two months before their visa expires. Below are the penalties imposed by the Immigration authorities for overstaying:
1-7 days:
A fine of RM100 to RM500 or any amount decided at the discretion of the Immigration authorities
7-30 days:
A fine of RM1,000 to RM10,000 as decided by the Immigration authorities
More than 30 days:
You will be referred to the ENFORCEMENT UNIT of the Immigration Department for further action as mentioned below:
- Being detained by the Police
- Charged in the court under Immigration Act Section 15
- A fine (RM3, 000 – RM10, 000)
- Deported to your home country
This application will take approximately 2 months to complete. IO will contact the student once it is ready for collection.
DEFERMENT OF STUDIES
It is not advisable for
international student to defer their studies at INTI College Sabah.
International student will need to inform International Office personnel and
apply for deferment from his/her Academic Heads. The form has to be
submitted to the Faculties/Centres before week 7 of a long semester or week 4
of a short semester. There will be no refund of fees after first day of the
semester. Application of
Deferment is subjected to Faculty and Chief Executive’s Approval. Supporting
document might be required. Only upon approval from all parties, you are
allowed to defer and you are required to go back to home country. You are also
required to send the “Exit Stamp” to IO.
Students are allowed to defer their studies for ONE (I) semester only at any one time, with valid justification and supporting documents. Request for subsequent deferment of semester is subject to approval, and on case-by-case basis. Deferment of more than TWO (2) consecutives semesters is not encouraged.
For International student who
defers his or her study, the Student Pass will be cancelled for that Only
upon approval from all parties, you are allowed to defer and your student pass
will be cancelled. You are required to go back to home country and send the
“Exit Stamp” to IO. International
Office Personnel will assist student to re-apply for Student Pass once he/she
enrols again.
* All International students are advised to check their student pass expiry date properly and frequently upon collecting their passport from the International Office.
It is the student’s RESPONSIBILITY to keep track of their visa expiry date.
